Appointment of Associate Professor Tan Lay Hong as Advisor to SKF

The Management Committee of Singapore Karate-Do Federation is pleased to announce the appointment of Associate Professor Dr Tan Lay Hong as member of our advisory board. Dr Tan starts her tenure from 22 October 2013 to 30 June 2016.

Associate Professor Dr Tan Lay Hong graduated from National University of Singapore (NUS) with an LL.B (2nd Class Uppers) Honours in 1985 and practiced as a civil litigation and chancery lawyer for 6 years. In 1992, she pursued a LL.M with King’s College, University of London on a NTU scholarship. Dr Tan is tenured Associate Professor in Nanyang Business School, teaching Company Law and Corporate Governance. In 2014, she was conferred the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) by NUS.

Dr Tan has carried out extensive research on Company Law, Corporate Governance and Chinese Law. She has published in the International and Comparative Law Quarterly, Australian Law Journal, Journal of Corporate Law Studies, Journal of World Trade and Investment and the Singapore Academy of Law Journal. In addition, she has published three books on corporate governance and one book on Chinese Business Law. She has been invited to be a speaker and panellist in many seminars and conferences on corporate governance and ethics. In addition to sitting as the Honorary Advisor to the Singapore Karate-Do Federation, she is also a member of the management committee of the Magdalene Kindergarten under the aegis of the Canossian sisters. She is now a Senior Legal Counsel at RHTlawTaylorwessing, one of the leading law firms in Singapore.

With the appointment of A/Prof Dr Tan, Singapore Karate-Do Federation as a Charity organization will certainly benefit from her experience and advice in the corporate governance and legal processes.
